Everyone rejoices! PlayStation 4 is FINALLY getting an external hard drive support in the next system update!
System Update 4.50, codenamed Sasuke, will allow users to plug in a USB 3.0 external hard drive up to 8TB, and transfers software and downloadable content via the settings menu.
The new update will also allows screenshots as background wallpaper, a smaller quick menu and a simplified notifications list, and the option to post directly to the Activity Feed. 4.50 also allows PSVR users to watch 3D movies in the headset.
The update beta is out for some users today. The actual update should come to the rest of us in the coming weeks.
I’m glad PS4 is finally getting external hard drive update. One of the biggest problem with console gaming these days is the lack of space on hard drives, and you either have to delete games, or get a new hard drive all together. It’s really annoying to get a new hard drive, as it pretty much means your system is brand new again and you have to back up your files and such. Ugh! Anyway, with the new external hard drive update you can simply solve the problem by plugging an external hard drive in.
Xbox One allows external hard drive a long time ago already.
