Things Worth Noticing in the New Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer

Baby Groot.

Marvel has shown off the new teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 yesterday!  The one-minute twenty-something second trailer might be short, but it’s packed with information and glimpses of awesomeness.  So let us hooked on a feeling again, and point out some things worth noticing in the new trailer.

First off, the trailer actually shows a monster!  When Gamora jumps into battle at the twenty-five second mark from some sort of ramp, it is actually a tentacle!  Back in April issue of Empire Magazine, a monster called Ablilisk was teased and the tentacle here belongs to Abilisk.  While we only see Gamora and Star-Lord fighting the monster, the teaser seems to suggest all the Guardians will fight it together.

It also shows the team will be splitting into two- Peter, Gamora and Drax doing their own mission; Rocket, Yondu and Groot doing another.  We will talk about Peter’s mission later, but it seems Rocket’s mission involves some sort of prison break with many guards floating around.  It’s hard to say right now, but it’s highly possible that they are breaking Nebula out of prison.  It’s unknown why they want to break her out, but seeing that she will officially become a member of the Guardians, everything makes sense.

Meanwhile, Peter’s mission has him crash landing on a forest planet.  This might be Ego, the living planet aka Peter’s dad.  Kurt Russell will be playing this character, and it’s also said that he will appear in human form.  As of why they’re on the planet is unknown, but I can’t wait to see Peter’s adventure on top of his father.

So what do you think?  Are you exciting of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?  What do you think is really going on?  And where the hell is Howard the Duck?  Let’s discuss in the comments below.
