Detroit is definitely Gotham City.
Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman, is set to film in Michigan starting first quarter of 2014. The Hollywood Reporter states that the movie receives $131 million, and 35 of those will go to Michigan Film Office for in-state expenditures. The filming will take place in Detroit and other parts of the state, meaning the city will most likely stand for Gotham or even Metropolis.
THR alos states other expenses: “the production is expected to hire 406 Michigan workers, with a full time equivalent of 426 jobs, plus an additional 6,000 man/days of extra work. … The production estimated the use of 500 local Michigan vendors and spending $5.1 million on hotels.”
