The newest actor to play the Dark Knight is finally announced.
It comes as a shock, but Warner Bros. has announced Ben Affleck to star as Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel.
“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some” said Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at Warner Bros. “His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman,” added director Snyder. “He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
“We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman,” continued Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution President Sue Kroll. “He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes.”
I’m still in shock of the news. While it will be interesting to see Affleck as Batman, but I have little faith with the actor. The Man of Steel sequel is rumored to be called Batman vs. Superman, and it’s supposed to be part of the bigger Justice League movie plan. The movie is set to release July 17th, 2015.
Let us know how you feel about Ben Affleck playing Batman.
