X-Men: Battle of the Atom Crossover Event

Marvel announced during C2E2 that they’re planning on a 10 part crossover event for the X-Men titles: Battle of the Atom.

While All-New X-Men features X-Men from the past, Battle of the Atom will have X-Men from the future visiting the present.  The event will begin this September to October and starts with X-Men: Battle of the Atom #1, issue 12 and 13 of Uncanny X-Men, issue 16 and 17 of All-New X-Men, Wolverine and the X-Men issue 36 and 37, the soon to debut X-Men issue 5 and 6, and everything ends with Battle of the Atom #2.

Marvel also reveals some sketches of the future X-Men.  Apparently some are the off-springs of random, surprising match-up between the X-Men:

Some that stand out to me are Wolverine’s son and Ice Hulk/Thing.  Is it possible that Ice-Man and She-Hulk get together or something?  That’s just bizarre.

Some more details of this event states that Kitty Pryde is the leader of the future X-Men, and the inspiring is from her counterpart in Days of Future Past.  Also, the future X-Men are visiting the present to send the past X-Men back to their own time, due to the upcoming screw-up involving them.

This will be the first X-Men crossover event since 2010’s “Second Coming.”  This new event will also serve the purpose of celebrating X-Men 50 years anniversary.
